Alaska Rainbow Adventures is a float trip outfitter operating multi- day excursions into the Alaskan bush according anglers a unique opportunity to experience the Alaskan wilderness like no other. A.R.A. float trips are on some of the most fabled of Alaskan waters, yet even so provide anglers who want to get “off-the-grid” with an intimate knowledge of an entire watershed that is unmatched by most operations. Paul Hansen, owner of A.R.A., has used his nearly thirty years of guiding experience and floating knowledge to design trips that are tailored to the angler seeking that intangible “something more” from their Alaskan adventure and succeeds while taking you into the Alaskan wilderness in a way that some of us have only dreamt about.

Typical Length of Stay

Standard float trips with A.R.A. are a 7 night / 7 day fishing package, but shorter or extended trips can be accommodated. Please call Yellow Dog for details and scheduling.

Accommodations and Lodging

Alaska Rainbow Adventures CampLodging during your stay with A.R.A. is provided in high-end water/wind proof tents, custom built in Alaska for Paul Hansen and his operation. Each of these custom tents are equipped with comfortable cots, chairs and will keep you dry and warm during your Alaskan visit. Also on each of the A.R.A. trips is a custom built large gathering / dinning tent capable of holding the entire group for dining or as a gathering area. All guests are welcome to hang out in this common space for drinks, fly tying and socializing.

Each day after fishing, you will arrive at your designated campsite for the evening, where you may assist the A.R.A. staff make camp while they prepare all the additional amenities for your evening stay. A private portable bathroom will be set up each night for your use while at camp and a shower is available. While this is a rustic camping trip for anglers seeking a true back country experience, the A.R.A. staff takes all the necessary steps to make you feel as comfortable as possible during your stay.

Food and Beverages

The guides and camp staff at A.R.A. really know how to cook up a great selection of meals to keep you going for each day of fishing during your trip. Paul Hansen and head guide Mike Bianchi take great pride in the development of a menu that has been modified through years of experience in the Alaskan wilderness. Breakfast include hearty scrambles, eggs Benedict and pancakes, along with camp coffee/tea to kick off your day. Lunch is provided each day on the water by your guides, with dinner each evening after you have arrived to camp. Dinner each evening include hearty portions of fresh caught salmon, meats, pasta dishes, burgers and stir fries, leaving you full and ready for the next day on the water. A.R.A. can also accommodate menu preferences and vegetarian diets if mentioned in advance.

Fishing Information

wanting more each day. With trips on some of the big-named rivers including the Goodnews, Alagnak, Togiak,
American, Moraine Creek, Lake Creek and Talachulitna, each trip is custom tailored to focus on what you would like
to accomplish during your visit.

You will have the option to choose from three different float trip packages during your stay. Each package offers different levels of service and amenities on your float. The Fisherman's Deluxe package features a two to one guest to guide ratio with two anglers and their guide floating the river in custom built drifter rafts and a separate gear boat that precedes you down river, carrying much of the gear and getting camp set up before you arrive. The Standard Deluxe option offers the same excellent accommodations of the fisherman's deluxe, but with a two or three to one guest to guide ratio, no gear boat and everyone helps assist in setting up camp. The Intimate River style float trips are usually on smaller waters and have less of the creature comforts of the other offerings. Availability depends on the particular river you choose to float with A.R.A. On some waters all three service levels are available, while on others due to accessibility and logistics only what is called the "intimate rivers" version trips are offered.

Boats and Equipment

After years of experience running the Alaskan river drainages, A.R.A. is outfitted with only the best rafts and catarafts for your multi-day float. Vessels used by A.R.A. include great craft from top names like Sotar & Aire, ranging from 14-18 feet depending on your chosen river for your trip. Each raft is equipped with a custom built frame, floor and padded high back seats for your comfort.

** Alaska is now enforcing a ban on felt-soled wading boots to help prevent the spread of potential waterborne parasites and diseases. Please keep this in mind while planning for your trip.

Non-Angling Activities and Options

While A.R.A. is primarily a fishing operation, the staff does offer bear viewing float trips and scenic floats based on preferences and time frame for your group. Please contact Yellow Dog to learn more.

How To Get There

Your trip starts upon arrival to Anchorage, where you will take a short flight to King Salmon, Dillingham, Illiamna or Bethel for your charter flight. Upon arrival to the airports listed, you will board a smaller charter float plane that will transfer you to your launching point with A.R.A.

If you cannot arrive to Anchorage until later in the day (which can occur with cross-country flights) Yellow Dog can assist you with overnight accommodations for the evening prior to your trip. Other Information

If you would like alcoholic beverages during your trip with Alaska Rainbow Adventures, it is recommended you purchase what you will be needing in Anchorage or your final domestic flight destination of Dillingham, Bethel, King Salmon or Illiamna. There will be no place to buy alcohol on the river, so please plan accordingly!

Take the time to do some fly-casting practice before you leave on your fishing adventure of a lifetime. You are traveling all the way to Alaska for some world-class wilderness fly-fishing. You are going to be there for just a week, maybe less. Don't waste your valuable time on the water brushing up on your casting skills when you could be fishing! Arrive ready.
