Accommodations and Lodging

Blackfly Bonefish LodgeThis is a totally unique specialized destination for the Bahamas. This beach house sleeps six guests very comfortably with four guests in single private rooms. It overlooks the ocean and is very close to Abaco’s finest flats fishing. The house is very nice, clean, spacious and well appointed with the artwork of lodge partner and renowned artist, Vaughn Cochran, founder of the Blackfly brand. The beach is 100 yards from the house. There is a TV, A/C, and a washer and dryer. High speed wireless internet is also available throughout the entire house.

Food and Beverages

All meals are prepared in-house by a local chef, and the menu can be customized to meet the tastes and requests of the group. Fishing Information

Black Fly BonefishIf you are seeking diversity in the flats, then this location is perfect for you. This destination sits in the middle of some of Abaco’s finest flats systems, offering anglers great diversity in the style of flats they can fish during their stay at Blackfly. Being located in the southern end of the Marls allows the guides to easily access all the flats towards the southern end of Abaco Island with minimal running time in the boats.

The lodge’s head guide - Paul Pinder - is one of the most in-demand and well respected guides in all of the Bahamas. Paul and his guide staff know this area very well. Since the Beach House is centrally located between Marsh Harbour and Sandy Point, the guides have easy access to the finest flats on Abaco, including areas such as Cherokee Sound, the Southern Marls, Sandy Point, and a few small islands off the mainland. They prefer to make the 18 mile run to the small island if the weather permits, and we highly recommend taking the extra time to head out to these Oceanside cays if the opportunity presents itself.

We have found the fishing in this area to be uncrowded and pristine, with excellent opportunities for big bonefish, occasional permit, and numerous other species. The flats are great for wade fishing and poling. The tides will dictate when and where to wade and when to fish from the boat. If you are seeking minimal running time in the boat to maximize your fishing time, the guides can easy use the boat ramp that is located only three miles from the lodge. This ramp allows the guides to fish the flats between the Southern Marls and the Sandy Point area with virtually NO running time in the boat. There are numerous places to wade fish on your own on arrival and departure days or if you wish to take a day off from guided fishing. We view this destination as a great place to experience the best of Abaco in a non-traditional , very private lodge setting with some great people.

Boats and Equipment

The new Easr Cape Skiffs that Capt. Clint Kemp is introducing into the Blackfly fleet are perfect for making the run to the outer islands as well as for poling the shallow waters closer to the mainland. Yellow Dog recommends that anglers bring all of their own gear and equipment, including rods, reels, wading boots, flies and all terminal tackle. Terminal tackle, flies, and gear can be purchased beforehand at the Blackfly online store.

Non-Angling Activities and Options

Non-Angling ActivitiesThis is primarily a fishing focused destination. That said, the beach is steps away from the Beach House and is one of the most beautiful beaches we have experienced anywhere in the Bahamas. You could easily use this house as a family or couples vacation spot and everyone would be happy.

Marsh Harbour is 30 minutes from the lodge and offers many tourist activities and shopping. Rental cars are available.
