Strategically situated on the banks of the Skeena River, Spey Lodge offers unlimited availability to the fly-friendly waters of the lower Skeena watershed, home to the largest runs of wild fish in North America. The lodge has six double occupancy rooms along with a large lounge, dining room and all other necessary amenities. Further to the north lies Spey’s sister operation – Boundary Lodge. A slightly smaller lodge built on the banks of the Bell-Irving River, Boundary was designed and constructed as a remote, exclusive steelhead lodge catering to only four rods per week from September through November. The guys at Spey begin the season in mid-March with the arrival of spring steelhead. Throughout the summer, anglers can catch five different species of sea-bright Pacific salmon in addition to resident trout. Starting in late July, Spey Lodge offers some of the best steelhead fishing in the world, which continues into the fall. The target species and the rivers fished vary from month to month, but the techniques stay relatively the same. Swinging wet flies with floating lines and light wet-tips is most effective. You can also skate dry flies to large steelhead, catching fish on the surface that can easily exceed 20 pounds!
Standard package is a five day / six night package (Monday to Saturday). Change over days can be adjusted.
Spey Lodge offers six comfortable, double occupancy rooms, all with private baths. There is also a large lounge, a dining room, and a number of other amenities. Although Spey Lodge has the capability to accommodate 12 anglers at a time, they usually cater to small groups, couples, and even single anglers. Let Yellow Dog team you up with Spey Lodge for a fishing experience of a lifetime in the wilds of British Columbia.
Boundary Lodge provides similar accommodation, but like most ultra remote locations the lodge is smaller and accommodations are more modest. Boundary provides a mixture of private and double occupancy rooms, depending on your requirements.
The staff at Spey and Boundary Lodge create an excellent homely atmosphere and meals are first-class. Guests are treated to much home cooking with even homemade breads, cookies and granola.

Starting the end of July, Spey Lodge offers some of the best Steelhead fishing in the world, which continues into the fall. Some of the best dry-fly steelheading on earth, this lasts until mid-November. The target species and the rivers fished vary from month to month, but the techniques stay relatively the same. For those who are interested, the benefits of spey casting are taught and encouraged by the experienced guides to guests of all skill levels.
Spey Lodge, of course, specializes in the use of Spey rods (two handed fly rods). A single-handed eight-weight rod will work just fine most of the time, but with the Salmon often exceeding thirty pounds and the Steelhead sometimes exceeding twenty pounds the risk of being under gunned is always there. The Spey rod balances the odds in your favor; slightly, but on occasion even a 15 foot 9 weight seems small. A Salmon or Steelhead making a 15-foot rod seem small is reality at Spey Lodge.
Spey Lodge will provide you with on the water lessons in all aspects of Spey Casting. Lessons in casting (Spey or Single) are part of the all-inclusive package.
Rafts and aluminum jet boats equipped with Yamaha motors.
This is primarily an angling destination. The staff at Spey Lodge recommends that angling be the primary reason for visiting the lodge, although activities such as hiking and wildlife viewing can be arranged for non-anglers. Please call Yellow Dog for details.
Your final flight destination is Terrace, British Columbia, which can be accessed via a number of daily commercial flights from Vancouver, B.C.
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the lodge. Spey Lodge is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport. The shuttle to boundary lodge is a little over three (3) hours.
All prices are per person and based on double occupancy. A trip of any length of stay can be arranged. Please Call Yellow Dog for details and custom package pricing. Rates listed below are in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
