As I'm writing this it is cold out and dumping snow in Boulder and all I can think about is wetting a line.  So, we're going to run down to some warmer weather and sunny skies--as long as the weather behaves--in the glorious state of New Mexico.  As it stands, we have rooms reserved at Abe's, the local all-in-one fly shop & motel, for Friday night and Saturday night.  Discounting any traffic delays, drive approximately seven hours from Boulder (transportation is up to you), crash at the hotel, wake up and have breakfast (which is included), and hop into the driftboats.  Float downstream from Texas Hole to the end of the quality water.  This is a good way to get the best information from the guides on where the fish are holding, what they are eating, and how to target them.  Then, get up the next day and do it on your own.  You can either head back home that evening, or stay one more night and take your time getting home on Monday.

The package includes accommodations Saturday night (the 7th), breakfast early Sunday morning, and  a full day guided float trip on Sunday.  We use North Platte Lodge/The Reef Flyshop guides and they truly are the best guides that I have worked with up there. Last year fish counts were between 45-70ish fish landed per boat. A number of quality fish over 22" were also landed. This trip is very beginner friendly--again, the guides are fantastic!  Lunch and flies are provided by North Platte Lodge. I imagine we will be floating the dam to Lusby, but leave that up to the guides.  Two years ago they recommended a lower float which ended up being fantastic! Package price is $375 based on double occupancy.  There are two anglers per boat, so this is typically not an issue with anyone wanting to sign up, and a great chance to fish with your buddy.  Gratuity is not included in the price.

For those wanting to make a full weekend out of it, we have rooms reserved for Friday evening.  This cost will be in addition to the $375.

North Park Fishing Trip

Join FRA as we head up to the sometimes overlooked part of our great state, the North Park of Colorado. Participants will spend two days (Fri & Sat) fishing the Delany Buttes lakes as a "fish along". On Sunday we will do a Guided Trip either on some of the Private water, or do a Foat Trip down either the North Platte or the Yampa.  
FRA will provide you with float tubes if you dont have one to dial in on some really huge fish that inhabit these amazing lakes. Fish here average in the 18in range and many fish over 26" are caught on a regular basis. We should be down there during the chironomid hatch and fishing bugs vertically through the water can be an incredible experience on these lakes.
