Simple Blood Knot
Here is a variation of the standard Blood Knot developed by Mark Sosin and Lefty Kreh. Many anglers feel is easier to tie and just as strong as the original blood knot.
1. Overlap the lines, holding them where they cross
2. Wrap the right tag end 7 times around the standing line
3. Wrap the left tag end 7 times around the right
4. Lubricate and tighten by pulling first on the tag ends and then on the standing line. Alternate until the knot pulls down smoothly.
5. When tied correctly, the tag ends are on opposite sides of the knot
