The Hinged Strike Indicator

I prefer polypropylene yarn over all other materials for strike indicators because its easy to cast and doesn’t retain water (make sure you apply a paste flotant). Look for thicker version of this yarn and try beige or white rather than the more traditional colors. I use a piece of Velcro cemented to a 3/8 inch dowel to fluff up the yarn (a Pat Dorsey trick) The leader is 7 ½-foot 3Xwith the yarn indicator tied in using a Duncan Loop. The tippet can be tied on with a Duncan Loop or cinch knot.
