Thread: Tan 3/0 Monocord
Tail: Tan Biots
Abdomen: Brown & Yellow or Orange Silk Marabou Floss
Thorax: Golden Brown Ice Dub
Wingcase: Golden Stone, Mottled Oak Thin Skin
Legs: Grizzly Hackle
Optional Antennae: Tan Biots
Head: Thread
 
 
Step
Tying Instruction:
1
Attach thread and wrap a threadbase to above the hook barb.

Tie in the tail material above the hook barb. Tail length equals 1/2 hookshank length.

Tie in the body materials on the side of the hookshank at the bend.

Wrap a thread base to appx 3 eye lengths behind the hook eye. Whip finish or half hitch and cut off the thread.

Granny Weave the body to appx 3 eye lengths behind hook eye.Note: See the Fly Anglers On Line website (www.flyanglersonline.com) for more detailed instructions on doing the Granny Weave.

Re-attach the thread and tie off the body materials. Cut excess abdomen materials.

Tie in the wingcase material on top of the hookshank behind the bend.

Tie in leg material on top of the body.

Dub a thorax to appx 3 eye lengths behind hook eye.

Palmer wrap the leg hackle to appx 3 eye lengths behind hook eye. Tie in and cut off excess.
11
Trim flat the leg hackle on top of the thorax.
12
Pull wingcase material to appx 1 eye length behind hook eye. Tie in and cut off excess.
13
Tie in optional antennae if used.
14
Whip-finish a small neat head.
