Step
Tying Instruction:
1
Start thread at about mid hookshank and wrap a threadbase to above hook barb.

Tie in beard material, length equals 1/2 to 3/4 the hookshank length.

Return thread to appx 1/2 hookshank and tie in the body tubing on top of the hookshank.

Tie in the leg material (3~4 Herls) by the butts on the bottom of the hookshank.

Return the thread to above the hookpoint and wrap a smooth threadbase, with a hump in the middle of the hookshank to appx 1~2 eye lengths behind the hookeye.

Using a Potts Weave to make the body and legs to appx 1 eye length behind the hookeye.Note: See the Fly Anglers On Line website (www.flyanglersonline.com) for more detailed instructions on doing the Potts Weave.

Simplified Potts Weave instructions.A; Make 1 complete wrap around the hookshank with the body material.B; Wrap the leg material around the body material.C; Wrap the body material around the hookshank.D; Wrap the leg material around the body material.E; Continue the weave until you are appx 1 eye length behind the hook eye.

Tie off the body material and cut off the excess.

Whip-finish making a whip-finish to match the end of the body.

Either break or cut off the excess leg material.

Stroke the "legs" and twist the body materials until they are as straight down as possible.

Optional, use a magic marker to put eyes on the "beard" end.
