Tying Instructions | |
1
Start the thread appx 2 hook eye lengths behind the hook eye and wrap a smooth threadbase to the 1/2 hookshank point.
2
Tie in one Chick-a-Bou® feather at the 1/2 hookshank point with a loose wrap and with the quill pointing towards the hook bend, pull the feather towards the hook bend so that the hackle tips make a wing length of your choice.
3
Wrap as many thread wraps in front of wing to stand the wing up to the angle of your choice. Tie in and cut off excess.
4
Tie in the tail material behind the wing and overwrap a smooth threadbase to above the hook barb. Tail length equals hookshank length.
5
Move the thread to behind the wing and dub a thin tapered body to above the hook barb. Note: Dub the body to the rear and back
6
Tie in a hackle feather in front of the wing and make 2 wraps in front of the wing then make 2 wraps behind the wing, then wrap the hackle to 1 eye length behind the hook eye. Tie in and cut off excess.
7
Whip-finish using a minimum number of wraps.
8
Cut the hackle flat on the bottom of the hookshank so the fly will float lower on the water.
