Bill Leuchten Owner
Fly fishing has been and always will be a passion of mine. Moreover, I've always wanted to own my own business, and running a fly shop, with all its challenges and successes, has been a perfect integration of these interests. Front Range Anglers has withstood the tremendous challenges that have faced the industry in the past 6 years. Without the great staff and loyal customers, it would have been impossible. So far it has been a great ride with many sales goals achieved. We are well positioned to undertake future opportunities in this business.
When Bill is not busy running FRA he can be found perusing most any species that swims in the water. He has become a specialist in casting instruction and FFF certified casting instructor, warm water and cold water tactics, but really has deep passion and connection to the saltwater.
Jon Spiegel Area Manager
Jon was born and raised some 8 miles east of Boulder in Louisville and is the locals local. Now in his late-20's Jon is a shop manager and is the go-to-guy when you want to get detailed information/opinions on gear. He's on the pro staff of Ross Reels, Whitting, and Scientific Anglers. When time permits, he develops fly patterns for Solitude Fly Company.
Jon's range of expertise covers both cold and warmwater, plus he is an experienced saltwater fisherman. He is on the water day or night at least 150 days a year. He is always on the lookout for unique trips to various destinations.
Russell Miller Web Manager
Russell grew up in the burbs of Chicago where the bass are abundant and the Lake Michigan steelhead run hard. After moving out to Boulder, to attend CU, he received a BFA in photography, a BA in Art History, and a degree in web design. The long CU summer breaks were spent with clients, running around showcasing all that the Front Range has to offer. Any free time was spent fishing local Boulder waters and traveling to surrounding areas chasingwild high country trout, tailwater hogs, and still water species.
Now happily settled into Front Range Anglers and still living in Boulder, Russell has kept up his enthusiasm and continues to pursue the next great adventure.
Paul Prentiss Customer Communications
Paul's been fly fishing and tying flies for more than 50 years. His first fly rod was a Heddon with a Shakespeare automatic spooled with HDH line. He learned to tie flies on his own by taking apart patterns, watching a neighbor, and reading Field & Stream.
In addition to Front Range Anglers, Paul is very active in Trout Unlimited and the local chapter, Boulder Flycasters. He is Chairperson for the National Fly Fishing Championship which handles US competition for the selection of Fly Fishing Team USA. He writes articles and takes photographs for various fishing publications. Paul's primary objective is to be on the water at least 150 days a year chasing anything that swims.
Larry Jurgens Instruction Services
Larry arrived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in the summer of 1941 and 63 years later found himself at Front Range Anglers sorting out its fly tying and rod building programs.
As a young man Larry and his friends explored and fished the Rocky Mountain West. He began tying flies in earnest during 1965. Larry is not bashful about experimenting with new designs and materials that become the mainstay of a number of master tyers. Larry claims such imitation is purely incidental but we know this is not the case.
After a stint in the Army, Larry went to work for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies and 38 years later, in March of 2001, retired. Over that period and due to his travel schedule, Larry did a tremendous amount of salt and freshwater fishing all over the world.
