Front Range Anglers is pleased to announce our new program dedicated specifically for the female angler. The goal of the program is to increase the depth and breadth of the women's angling community. Through our free programs and events, we will provide awareness, product recommendations, community and plenty of fun. We have many events and presentations in the works for this program, so check back here often to see what's up and coming! All events are at the shop unless noted otherwise.

We are very honored to be hosting Sharon Lance on Thursday May 23rd. Sharon is a dedicated conservation advocate and member of the Board of Trustees for Trout Unlimited. Sharon will be giving her perspective on the role that women play in fly fishing and how they are instrumental in worldwide conservation efforts. About Sharon Sharon’s passion for fly fishing is only eclipsed by her dedication to conservation of cold water fisheries and watershed habitat through her work in Trout Unlimited. Over the last 20 years she has held various positions in TU including president of the Cutthroat Chapter and president of the Colorado State Council. She currently serves on the National TU Board of Trustees. She spearheaded the Cheesman Canyon Restoration Project in Colorado, raising over $300,000 for this six-year project completed primarily by volunteers. The projected landed her an appearance on ESPN’s Trout Unlimited television series, made her a national finalists for the 2004 Budweiser Conservationist of the Year award, and earned her recognition as Fly Rod & Reel magazine’s Ford Motor Co. “RiverKeeper” in 2005. In 2010 Sharon was the recipient of the Ray Mortensen award, the highest honor for a TU volunteer. Most recently, Sharon is focused on sustainability through youth. She founded the River Conservation Fly Fishing Youth Camp in Colorado to introduce high school students to river conservation issues and fly fishing. She also started the “Trout in the Classroom” program in Colorado, where high school science classes raise trout from eggs then release the fingerlings into local watersheds at the end of the school year. Sharon somehow manages to find time for frequent fly fishing adventures with her husband, Mark. |
