Women's Programs

Join us for events and presentations just for the ladies!

Join other women for FREE events and presentations just for you!

Front Range Anglers is pleased to continue our popular women's program in 2014. Designed specifically and exclusively for the female angler, the program provides a non-intimidating, educational and supportive environment for women to learn about fly fishing.

The goal of the program is to increase the depth and breadth of the women's angling community in the Boulder/Denver metro area. If you haven't discovered fly fishing yet, hopefully our events will encourage and interest you enough that you will want to give it a try. If you currently do enjoy fly fishing, perhaps you will learn something new, find other women to fish with, or share your opinions and experiences with others. Think of it as a kind of "Meetup" environment for women in fly fishing.

Through our free programs and events, we will provide awareness, woman-specific product recommendations, community and plenty of fun! We have many events and presentations in the works for this program, so check back here often to see what's up and coming! All events are at the shop unless noted otherwise.

What keeps you off the water?

All of us have numerous obligations that keeps us off the water more than we wish. Family, friends and work all conspire to minimize our time that we get to enjoy outdoors. Anne will give us a candid presentation on her perspective as to why we as women don't treat ourselves to fishing as often as we should.

FRA Guide Anne Reid talks about the things that keep us off the waterAnne will also share a few aspects of fly fishing that can be done even when we can't be on the water. Learning about fly fishing can sometimes be just as fun as actually doing it, and there are some things that can be done without even leaving the house!

About Anne

Anne Reid’s interest in fly fishing kicked into high gear in 1996 during a camping trip with friends along the Poudre River. “The skill and finesse of casting, beauty of the surroundings, and the wonderfully colorful fish was all it took to get my attention” says Anne.

In addition to fishing all across Colorado, Anne has branched out to fish all of the Rocky Mountain states, as well as Florida, Louisiana, and Mexico. According to Anne, “I’ve had all manner of fish and even a few guides at the end of my line. I won’t even bother mentioning the trees, rocks, shrubby, and other assorted items I’ve managed to snag.”

“It’s the big rivers in Montana that are always pulling me back. Memories of the Big Horn, Beaverhead, Jefferson, Big Hole, Mighty Mo, Blackfoot, Bitterroot, Gallatin, and Madison are never out of mind,” notes Anne.

Anne has been guiding for the last six years here on the Front Range. Her favorite activity is teaching youngsters at the fly fishing camp put on by Front Range Anglers each summer. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters and has been a volunteer fire fighter since 2000. According to Anne, “Fly fishing is my spiritual outlet, it is where i truly enjoy being there for the moment.”
