Description

The FRA family is happy to host another special series of fly fishing classes with Ben McGee for 2024, starting on March 10th! The in-class portion of the course will be followed by on-water advanced angling clinics available this summer with Ben and our resident competition angler, and advanced instructor John Brown. Our on-water portion of the course will be hosted at a premium Colorado private ranch and stream that is perfect for this type of practice and instruction. The feedback from Ben's previous classes here at FRA has been outstanding, spaces are limited and they will fill up fast.

Ben McGee is a career scientist in aquatic ecosystem health monitoring and when it comes to teaching advanced fly fishing techniques, he's an absolute professor. Together, we will dive into the complex biological and physical relationships of fly fishing to develop a more scientific understanding of our practice. Starting with our not so typical Applied Entomology class, we will explore some major bug misconceptions that are worth avoiding, and some big time hatch advantages that can really multiply your fish count. Next up, the Physics of Nymphing. Strap on your outside the box thinking caps and buckle in for a ride with the physical advantages and or disadvantages for the nymphing angler. You'll never nymph inside the box again. #nymphoutsidethebox

Each class is capped at 20 participants, spaces are expected to sell out.

Applied Entomology $50: Sunday March 10th at 3:00p -- 4:30p
Physics of Nymphing $50: Sunday March 10th at 4:30p -- 6:00p
On water classes will be available to in class participants for early registration, before the general public.

For those who wish to attend both course components back to back, be prepared for the firehose nature of this 3 hour fly fishing scientific binge session and caffeinate accordingly. Together, these classes are specially designed to give you a much better understanding of the complex biological and physical aspects that often separate good anglers from great anglers. Let us help you get there.
