"I moved to Denver with my husband and infant
son in 1981 from Phoenix, Arizona. We knew that
fly fishing would be a sport we would enjoy together,
so as soon as we arrived, we took a fly fishing
class from Dick Reeves, who soon thereafter, started
Front Range Anglers in partnership with A. K.
Best. Dick taught us to cast, tie flies and build
our own rods. While our son was growing up, though
I loved fly fishing, I also loved breeding and
showing dogs. So for many years, most of my spare
time away from being a MOM and teaching at Overland
High School, was spent working with the dogs,
Borzois in particular. Except for a handful of
fishing trips each year together, my husband did
most of the fishing in the family. In 1996 however,
my interest turned again to fly fishing. I began
tying and fishing more and developing a group
of friends who have been my inspiration and mentors
in this great sport. I will be forever thankful
for the support, encouragement and inspiration
given to me by B. J. Lester, Brad Befus and Pat
and Carol Oglesby." - Sue Armstrong
