Even though we’ve had a nice spell of warmer weather, the Front Range waters are still heating up. With the recent heavy rains, the water has been very high and murky. However, overall warm water action is good right now. The bass are feeding and carp are in the shallows.
A hopper dropper rig often works perfectly for multiple species on the Front Range. Every once in a while a cruising carp will take a hopper, which can be very exciting, but most fish will be hooked on the dropper. The hopper’s main function is to give the dropper a soft and stationary presentation. A couple of favorite droppers recently have been worm patterns, damsel fly nymphs, and crustaceans.
