The remote headwaters of world-renowned Eagle River contains some of the finest fishing for Eastern Brook Trout and Northern Pike.
Eagle River Trout Lodge offers world class fly fishing adventures on the world famous Eagle River, Labrador.
We fish mainly all rivers thus all moving water fishing makes ERTL a very unique destination for the prized Trophy Brook Trout. The rivers are large enough that ERTL experienced guides travel the river system in our large 26 foot canoe known as the Gander River Boat.
ERTL practices an hook and release fishery only. No brook trout are retained other than an occasional injured fish that well be served along with northern pike for a shore-lunch during a full day adventure.
Barbless hooks are to be used at all times and only fly fishing in the rivers is permitted. There are times in the lakes especially in shallow areas that hold large pike we do use light spin tackle with single barb less hooks. Here at ERTL our brook trout average about 4 pounds with brook trout 6-8 pounds very common and we have landed them in recent years weighing a whopping 11 pounds.
Northern Pike on this watershed also can grow quite large and very eager to take the fly. Specimens of near 30 pounds have been landed with 15-20 pounds very common.
Eagle River’s double A-frame fishing lodge offers all aspects of home comfort for the angler. This Canadian Fishing Lodge with approx 4000 sq ft—has six double occupancy bedrooms, each complete with full bathroom facilities, including showers. Lodge supplies all bed linens, towels, facecloths and soaps.
In the evening relax around our old fashioned wood stove. Recount the day’s exciting fishing action or plan tomorrow’s strategy. For those who enjoy the art of fly-tying at our fly-tying bench and craft some of your best patterns. Eagle River Trout Fishing Lodge tries to ensure the maximum comfort for the guest while still retaining the warm atmosphere, camaraderie and professionalism, which we feel you are looking for in your Canadian fishing adventure.
Hearty home cooked meals are prepared by our locally trained cooks and served in the main fishing lodge’s Dining Room.
When returning from a day fishing, the lodge has a large mud room at the rear of the lodge with a wood furnace. Lots of room for removing fishing clothing and getting it dry for the next morning.
In total, the lodge has 8 full bathrooms, 6 within the guest bedrooms and 2 for the staff. The lodge also has a large laundry room.
From the time you arrive until we say “so long for now”, Eagle River Trout Fishing Lodge will make every effort to make your Canadian fishing adventure as pleasurable as possible and produce memories to last a lifetime.
