GoFish Belize was established in 1996 by Abner Marin, a local “San Pedrano” from the town of San Pedro, on the island of Ambergris Caye, in Belize. Abbie grew up on the island’s beaches and developed his craft under the guidance of his father, renowned fly fishing guide, Carlos Marin Sr. Along with his wife Marisela, he has grown GoFish Belize into the the premier, locally owned and operated, fly-fishing and light-tackle guide service on the island. GoFish Belize has now expanded to include a variety of fishing charters.

The Fishing

Flats Fishing

Pole along the shallow, calm waters experiencing the ultimate in sport fishing. Explore the endless turtle grass flats, searching for the mighty Tarpon, invisible Bonefish, and the ever- elusive Permit. New to Fly Fishing? No Problem! Our guides are masters and have initiated many anglers into the art of Fly Fishing. Don’t want to learn how to fly fish? Not a problem! Our guides can take spinning gear for you. The boat will take 1 or 2 passengers only. Only 1 angler can fish at a time. Pickup time is at 7AM but can be changed if needed. Half days are 4.5 hours, full days are 7 hours including pickup and drop off time.

Bone fish is available all year round.

Permit season(migrating) is from February to May, Local (small) Permit are available all year round.

Tarpon season (migrating) is from May to September, local (small) Tarpon are available all year round

Reef Fishing/BBQ/Snorkel

Your day starts off fishing inside the reef next to the beautiful Barrier Reef fishing for Snappers, Jacks, Barracuda or just about anything that will bite. Your guide will also free dive for fresh lobster or conch (depending on availability and season). Relax on our white sandy beach while your guide prepares your beach BBQ lunch, which includes sides that are usually fresh fruits, fresh veggies, beans and flour tortilla. Once done you will head off to one of many beautiful snorkel areas. Your guide will make recommendation if needed.

The boat will take 1 to 4 passengers with the option to add up to 2 additional passengers. Only 2 anglers can fish at a time because our waters have current underneath which will cause the lines to tangle.

Reef Fishing (Half Day & Full Day)

Reef Fishing is fun for the entire family! Anchor inside the reef next to the beautiful barrier reef and enjoy catching Snappers, Jacks, Barracuda and just about anything else that will bite using spinning gear. All these fish are delicious to eat. Your guide can clean it for you and you can take it to most of the local restaurants for them to cook for you. All our reef fishing boats have a canopy. Cost is for the boat for up to 4 passengers in the boat with the option to add more. If you you would like to have lunch at one of Caye Caulker’s local restaurants ask us before the charter to see if this would be an option.

Night Fishing

Just like Reef Fishing, Night Fishing is done inside the reef next to our beautiful Barrier reef under the stars for Snapper, Jacks, Barracuda and just about anything else that will bite using light conventional tackle, lures, and/or live bait. All these fish are delicious to eat. Your guide can clean it for you and you can take it to most of the local restaurants for them to cook for you. Pickup time is at 4:30PM but can be changed if needed. Cost is for the boat with up to 4 passengers in the boat.

Fly Casting Lesson If you are new to fly fishing or would like to sharpen your salt water casting, fly casting lessons are available by appointment.

CANCELLATION BY THE CLIENT:
The Client may cancel the booking at any time provided that the cancellation is communicated to the Company in writing by email. Cancellation charges will be applied as shown below calculated from the day the Company receives written notice.

30 days or more – 100% refund, less $50 USD administration fee
29 – 14 days – 50% refund
13 days or less – 0% refund

CHANGES BY GOFISH BELIZE:
The Company’s aim is to operate the Charter as advertised, however, by entering into this Contract the Client accepts that it may prove necessary or advisable to vary or modify a Charter itinerary or
its contents due to prevailing local conditions or any other reason. The Company reserves the right at any time to cancel or change any of the Charter services or prices agreed, due but not limited to, government action, currency exchange rates, cost of fuel, dues and taxes and to substitute alternative arrangements of comparable value and experience. Where a major change is made prior to Charter departure the Client will have the choice of either:
(i) accepting another Charter of equivalent or higher value; or (ii) a combination of Charters equal to the value of the original booking; or (iii) a Charter of lower value with a refund of the difference in price of the original booking; or (iii) canceling the Charter and receiving a full refund.

CANCELLATION BY GOFISH BELIZE:
The Company reserves the right to cancel a Charter for any reason, however, a Charter will not be cancelled less that 30 days prior, except for weather or conditions out of Company control or the Client’s failure to pay the final balance. If the Client fails to pay the final balance the Company will, upon written notice of cancellation, return all monies paid excluding the $50 USD administration fee or offer an alternative Charter of comparable value based on the monies already paid.

FRA Cancellation/Refund Policy

At the time of booking 50% of the trip is due and payable. At 90 days the remainder plus all VAT and taxes are due. Cancellation greater than 90 days from the date of trip, all monies refunded less $100 fee if a replacement angler is found. Cancellation within 90 Days, no refunds are provided unless a qualified replacement angler is provided. No refunds are provided for trip cancellation due to Weather, Acts of God, Airline/Travel issues.

Travel Insurance
