Although the delicious meals and dreamy sleeping quarters may distract you, you are primarily coming out to fly fish with us; and there may not be a prettier place in Montana to do this. Located on the edge of the Bob Marshal Wilderness, the Blackfoot Valley is a sprawling vista of open meadows and rolling hills butted up against the towering snow-capped mountains. Thanks to a long term serious conservation effort, the Blackfoot Valley has remained relatively untouched from development and remains very much like it was 50-60 years ago. The rivers are thriving with all kinds of trout including the native West Slope Cutthroat Trout. As one of the oldest outfitters in the area, our guides are some of the most experienced in the state.
The Smith River is a masterpiece and one of the most sought-after float trips in the country. PRO’s Smith River excursion is a five day, four-night float down 61 miles of pristine water in the remote country. Towering limestone cliffs, deep pools, fast riffles, abundant wildlife and fantastic fly fishing for wild browns and rainbows make this the trip of a lifetime. While you float and fish all day, part of our team floats ahead so that camp is set and hors d’oeuvres ready when you arrive in late afternoon.
PRO Outfitters is one of the most experienced Orvis endorsed outfitting companies that offer this trip, and we are proud to be part of so many guests’ memorable Smith River adventure. Each launch can accommodate up to 8 guests.
Guests typically fly into Helena, where they have arranged lodging.
