Children under the age of 12 do not have to present any kind of certificate. Between the ages of 12 and 18, they must have a vaccination certificate, i.e. they cannot enter with a certificate of a diagnostic test or a certificate of recovery, apart from the exceptions.

In addition, in all cases, you need a health control form.

1. Certificate of vaccination (at least 14 days from the date of the last vaccination dose). Accepted vaccines: Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, Astra-Zeneca, Jansen / Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac and Sinopharm. The vaccination certificate must include at least the following information:

Name and surname of the holder.

Vaccination date, indicating the date of the last dose administered.

Type of vaccine administered

Issuing country

Identification of the issuing body of the vaccination certificate

2. Travelers who are in any of the exceptional situations and do NOT have a vaccination certificate, must present the diagnostic certificate or the recovery certificate.

2.1. Diagnostic certificate. You must show a negative COVID-19 test result. NAAT (PCR, LAMP, TMA or equivalent) test types are accepted in Spain. You must show a negative result of a NAAT test taken within 72 hours OR an antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to your arrival.

2.2. Recovery certificate (up to 180 days from the date on which the sample was taken).

In any case, the certificates must be written in Spanish, English, French or German. If it is not possible to obtain it in these languages, the supporting document must be accompanied by a translation into Spanish carried out by an official body.

3. Form (information here). In all cases, it is mandatory to fill out the Spain Health Control form (FCS). It must be completed and signed it online before your trip to Spain. You may access the form and sign it through the Spain Travel Healthportal or through the apps for Android or iOS devices.

⚠️ Important: Bear in mind that you cannot use the paper form. You must download your QR code and show it to the national authorities either on your mobile device or printed on paper

How can I get the FCS QR Code?

You can download the FCS QR Code on the website of Spain Travel Health or through your mobile phone (apps for Android or iOs devices).

When the Spanish authorities can request you to show the FCS QR Code?

Please take into account that airlines or maritime companies may ask you for the FCS QR code before boarding and the personnel of the control devices in the airports and ports at the point of arrival may also require you to present it.

What about if I am travelling in a cruise?

In case of international cruises, a specific form is required to replace the FCS (see form).

All passengers arriving in Spain as their final destination must undergo a health check on arrival at the first entry point. This control will include, at least, the temperature measurement, a documentary control and a visual control on the state of the passenger. If you are in transit check the specific rules. Travelers may be subject to denial of entry for public health reasons if, after verification by the correspondent health authorities, the traveler does not comply with the COVID-19 health control requirements established by the Ministry of Health.

Returning to the US:

Updated Pre-departure Testing Requirements for Air Travelers to the U.S.

Starting on December 6, air travelers aged two and older, regardless of nationality or vaccination status, are required to show documentation of a negative viral test result taken within one day of the flight’s departure to the United States before boarding. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight. That includes all travelers – U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (LPRs), and foreign nationals.

If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country, and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Exemptions will be considered on an extremely limited basis. Please visit the CDC for more information about exemptions and the requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19, including types of accepted tests for all air passengers arriving in the United States.

Check with your airlines, cruise lines, or travel operators regarding any updated information about your travel plans and/or restrictions, including potential COVID vaccine or testing requirements for countries you are transiting through.

About Salvelinus

Experience The Magic of Northern Spain curated by an expert.

Choose Orvis-endorsed accommodations at a Salvelinus Lodge on your fly-fishing adventure in the Spanish Pyrenees. Salvelinus’ program is easily customized to fit your travel plans. For example, you can fish different locations each day in a week, choosing from spring creeks in alpine meadows, larger streams flowing through verdant valleys in the mid and low country, or remote streams and lakes, including helicopter fly-outs to the most unspoiled waters.

Experts, beginners, and non-anglers can all be accommodated for a well-rounded travel experience; and it’s possible to make this a memorable holiday for companions who don’t fish and prefer to sightsee, explore ancient villages and national parks, or learn more about Spanish culture, including the delights of its food and wine.

This flexibility and expertise makes Salvelinus a unique operation in Europe. Add a trip to Spain or a Mediterranean Cruise to a week in any of these lodges and you will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you and your loved ones.

“My philosophy has always been fishing where others cannot reach. Thirty years of scouting gave me enough options to operate two fly-fishing lodges in the Pyrenees, with the first established in 1999. When we noticed our guests’ most precious time was shared among loved ones, we incorporated a full range of customizable experiences at both lodges. We also developed private wine tours in La Rioja or San Sebastian, taking place before or after the visit to the lodges. Finally, I designed, under the seal of secrecy, the Ultimate Pyrenees Tour: an unparalleled multi-destination itinerary to fly fish at its best times and spots from one end of the Pyrenees to the other.”

Ivan Tarin, Founder of SALVELINUS

The Fishing

From UNESCO’s biosphere reserves or preserved National Parks to recondite fly fishing spots, 700 miles of river and 20 lakes within an hour drive from Salvelinus’ Eastern Pyrenees location, Arén Lodge. Truly magnificent valleys between Spain and France set against a setting of rugged alpine wilderness and filled with sparkling waters as clear as glass.

March 1st to November 30th

Fly fish a selection of major wild trout rivers and streams of the Pyrenees from Arén; a medieval village from where you can explore a variety of waters for all skill levels, delve into local culture and history, or get carried away by the superb hearty cuisine crafted in the lodge’s 300 years old private restaurant.

Early Spring offers great BWOs. The best Summer fishing is in the highlands. Stable weather in late October and November bring productive nymphing.

Premier European Fly Fishing Lodges For Anglers And Travel Companions.

Both lodges have stunning mountain village location and both are rich in medieval history. The unique rule of both lodges is “make yourself at home.”

SANTA CILIA Fishing Lodge, in Western Pyrenees, is a 15th-century palace transformed into a cozy. five-room fly-fishing lodge that sits the banks of the Aragon River at the ancient village of Santa Cilia.

The old winepress building, used by the monks of the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña 500 years ago, is now a bar lounge for the anglers. Swap stories at the end of each day over a glass of wine as you anticipate the day ahead.

There is a terrace by the river, a wader room, a fly shop, massage room, as well as a dining room converted from an old stable.

AREN Lodge, in Eastern Pyrenees, is located in a 10th-century village within the natural boundary formed by the neighboring high-country area. The area remained untouched until the 20th century, and it is accessible through the Sopeira gorge.

This is not a traditional fishing lodge, but a wonderful, intimate, traditional hotel nested in the village of Aren. It has a 30-guest capacity: 4 suites, 2 apartments, and 8 bedrooms, fully furnished.

Travel Details

Best International Airport is Barcelona: it is a two and a half hour drive  to the lodge. Lleida RENFE Rail Station is well connected via AVE high- speed trains with main cities in Spain, and it is one hour and a quarter to the lodge.
