We had a fantastic day! I would highly recommend this business. Scheduling, preparation with licenses and gear,... fishing, and follow up were all extremely professional. It is obvious that the guides really love their work and are dedicated to making their guests feel comfortable and enjoy their day....no matter how each person defines a fun day. My daughter and I tagged along on my husband's birthday fishing trip and the guides made sure we all had a custom experience that made each person happy. I just enjoyed hanging out on shore and really had no desire to fish but they honored my request to find a "pretty place" and they even made sure there was a bathroom, cell service, and plenty of water available. One of my daughters wanted to participate for a little while and they were patient and encouraging and also allowed her to take a break and be done when she had enough. My husband is a fairly experienced fisherman but still felt like he learned quite a bit. He really enjoyed the experience immensely. I would definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone! It was also easy terrain and a short walk from the car which I know is important to some people. It really was an experience that anyone would enjoy!read more

We had an AMAZING day fishing! Our guide, Tyler, was very patient and a great teacher. We both caught about 14 fish... total and had many more nibbles! Tyler was very knowledgeable with the River, the Fish and the 'flies'. The staff were great with their customer service and communications, which was a great help as we booked from out of state. It was a true "bucket list" experience. I highly recommend this Fly Fishing Guide company when you are in Boulder, CO!read more

We booked a guided trip through Front Range Anglers, and I would highly recommend doing so! Our guides, Tim and Colton,... were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. It was 3 total beginners and one person who had a basic knowledge, and everyone had a good time. Not only did we have fun, we took away knowledge and techniques that will serve us as we continue to fish.read more

Very nice shop. Plenty of top notch gadgets and I went here for my first fly fishing rod and some flys, the guy at the... front counter was super helpful and gave me recommendations on flys to buy for local rivers that worked for him and was very informative and gave me great information. Left the shop super happy with my purchases and really excited to get out there and enjoy the sport some more.read more

I booked a fly fishing anniversary trip last weekend in Boulder, CO with FRA. What a blast! Our guide, Tim, was very... patient with us both during our full day trip. He even went out of his way to make our (previously selected) lunch himself because the sandwich shop wasn't going to be open. Really?! Tim took us to Estes Park where the fishing was a little slow at first because of the weather and we understood that. But after about an hour we were catching rainbows and even a giant brown. Tim showed his love and respect of nature even picking up other peoples discarded fishing line. He's a great fisherman & teacher and an asset to FRA. Thanks for the wonderful memories ;)read more

Booked a trip and paid the deposit, but had to cancel due to a family emergency inside of the 90 day period. Was not... issued a refund, instead I was issued a credit towards a trip in the future. They didn't have to do this, so it was nice. However, Because I took the credit, I was not refunded any of my travel expenses (hotel, airfare, travel insurance) that I purchased because I couldn't show them it was "cancelled". Obviously I'm the one who had to cancel, and I'm the one who did it (just) inside of their 90 day allowance, but by agreeing to their credit it cost me $3000 more than it would have if they just kept the deposit and officially cancelled me. I wish they would stop credits going forward because of this. Also, when I tried to use the credit, it's hard because after losing that extra cash I didn't want to book to the same place and accrue those costs again so I tried booking in their US based destinations and nothing was available. So the $2,000 credit was wasted as well. If it's your first time booking a trip, just know this. You are going on the trip or it's going to be a total loss. If someone had said that up front, I wouldn't have booked. They tell you to get the travel insurance, but that does nothing. They are impossible to deal with. From now on, any trip I book I'll be going on it regardless of anything happening around me. Otherwise you're just burning money.read more

Our party of six had an outstanding time on our 1/2 day trip with guides Christian and Jacob. We were all novices and... the guides were helpful with getting us started on basic techniques. There was plenty of communication prior to the trip from the lead guide so any questions we had were answered thoroughly and we felt confident about the trip by the time we met up on the day of. We caught a total of six fish so to these first-timers that was a successful day! They took us to two different spots and kept us fishing even though the weather did not cooperate with us for the first hour or so. They would scout out "good" spots and move us around a bit when they thought it would be helpful. They constantly rotated around to each person to check on us. They described the habitat and behavior of the fish we were looking for and if I do go fly fishing again I feel I have a good basic knowledge of the sport. All four adults in the group agreed it was a fun trip and a good vacation adventure!I would like to add we had a young teen and a 7-y/o with us and the guides were very attentive and helpful with the youngsters in the group.read more

Front Range Anglers is simply fantastic. Every time I walk in someone greets me and they make you feel welcome. They... don't only treat you as a customer, they treat you as a friend. The staff is wonderful, and they truly care about your satisfaction. The shop is probably the most well rounded shop I have ever seen, meaning that they don't focus mainly on just one thing with a few other things thrown in. No, they are truly balanced in every area, rods, waders, clothing, fly tying, flies, and any accessory or special item you may be looking for. It's the most family friendly fly shop I have ever been in, with supreme customer service, which these days means very much to me.If you have never visited FRA, you're missing out on something special.read more

5 stars for Front Range Anglers, and our guide Scott!My family booked a guided fly fishing trip in Colorado with... Front Range Anglers. Turns out our group had to change our plans last minute, and the staff at Front Range was super helpful with that. I love the store, and it's definitely Boulder's best fly fishing shop.The trip itself was perfect. Scott was super professional and friendly over the phone before our trip. He called a few times to make sure we had everything we needed, and asked a lot about exactly what we wanted in our day.We got out to a stunningly beautiful part of Colorado, (as we had requested), and were catching fish the first hour of our trip. Scott taught us a ton about different uses of flies, the gear we needed, how to stay safe, fly fishing etiquette, and also taught us a lot of technique. We caught a bunch of fish, and there were many more that 'got away.' (I'm still working on my technique..)I hope we get to book a trip like this in future. Thank you Front Range, and Scott, for everything.read more

We recently did a 1/2 day guided trip via Front Range Anglers who paired us up with our guide, David, who was great to... work with. We fished below the damn on the Big Thompson River outside of Estes Park and caught several smaller browns and rainbows. Would recommend FRA for anyone looking to get up and fish close to Denver!read more

None of the people in our group had ever been fly-fishing prior to booking our full-day trip with FRA:My friends and... I caught fish all day long, had a great meal right off the side of the creek and learned the all basics of fly-fishing. What more is there to ask for?I can't say enough about this place and their staff - only the best here!read more

I went into FRA for the first time this week to pick up a new reel and line. When I arrived, guy at the counter was... terse with me. Odd experience as I always go into a new fly shop looking for conversation and advice and they were very slow on a Wednesday afternoon. I wanted a click pawl and line for a new rod I recently acquired and was deferred to someone else. The guy that helped me in the end was very helpful, but I was put off by the initial interaction. Having had a 50/50 experience, I was curious to see what the fishing report would be as I plan to fish SBC in the morning. Just called and was told they have no information. Giving 3 stars instead of 2 as I’ve heard very good things about FRA, but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt at this point as 2 out of 3 of my interactions have been negative.read more

These guys are great! Knowledgeable, professional, and experienced. A lot of people talk it but these guys do it.... Guiding trips to places like Christmas Island and Alaska and carrying a wide variety of gear from the very best to something affordable to everyone. On a recent trip to the area they set me up with gear and even gave me a lift to a spot to fish. That was after I just walked into the shop in the middle of the day with a few hours to burn. I have been in many fly shops but these guys are the real deal. They know their stuff.read more

My son and I had a FANTASTIC day fishing with Austin, our FRA guide. Austin is very knowledgeable (fly fishing since... he was 8) and was excellent as a guide. He worked with us together and individually to improve our gear prep, casting techniques, and fish locating skills. We caught so many trout during our day with Austin I lost count. Great fun. Wonderful memories.read more
