St. Brandon's Atoll: The Case for the World's Most Remote Flats Fishing

St. Brandon's Atoll — Cargados Carajos Shoals — sits approximately 250 miles northeast of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Fishing pressure is so low that fish behavior is wild and opportunistic: bonefish routinely run five to ten pounds and are far less spooky than Atlantic counterparts. GT fishing is exceptional across interior flats and reef edges, and Indo-Pacific permit provide a unique challenge rarely encountered by North American anglers.

St. Brandon's is accessed via liveaboard boat, allowing daily movement between flat systems to maximize coverage of the atoll's vast water. The season generally runs October through December and February through May, avoiding cyclone risk.
