Southwater Caye is a 12-acre island located on the edge of the second largest barrier reef in the world. It is home to dozens of saltwater game species. Two years ago, 27 species of fish were caught on the fly! Besides its tropical beauty, this location is especially known for its Permit.

IZE Cottages is a delightful series of comfortable cabanas situated right on the water at Southwater Caye. Our hosts, Jen and Mack, run this wonderful little resort with a warm and friendly style and laid-back atmosphere. The bar at the lodge is located right on the water and is equipped with a pool table and satellite TV. The resort also has high-speed internet access.

Southwater Caye is ideally situated on the edge of numerous islands and tidal flats. Many of our guests who come here for the first time to fish the flats are thrilled by the quality of the tuna fishing that can be found just outside the reef. However, what really makes this an excellent fishing destination is the remarkable number of Permit found in the area. It's common to see 50 or more fish on an incoming tide. And for the hard-core angler who can't get enough, there are plenty of late afternoon and night fishing opportunities, offering the chance for more than a 10-hour day.
