The water was running moderately high (approx. 100 CFS) and was somewhat off-color — not mud, but definitely not clear — but with plenty of eddies to fish and slower water along the edges. It was a solid learning day. While we saw a lot of other people fishing, we were the only anglers I saw catching. Both Joe and Lane landed browns in the 9-11 inch range; in addition, each had several strikes and misses.
We fished a lot of subsurface patterns, with repeated success on brown and purple San Juan worms (“squirmy” you call them, Adam?). Lane also got results with very small caddis and BWO (sizes 20-22) late in the trip.
