Report Summary

Big Thompson Cinco de Mayo de 2016 Fishing Report.

Antonio was out guiding yesterday and the fishing was pretty good!

“It was sunny and warm at the Big Thompson Canyon yesterday (85 F).  The water was around 60 cfs at the Canyon, a very nice level, pretty clear, but very cold.

The fishing was very productive all day with nymphs and is at a perfect level for some nymph fishing.  Our best flies were; Jigged PT (sizes 12 and 14), Jigged Caddis Pupa (sizes 14 and 16) and Prince nymphs (size 14-18) were good as heavy dropper,  followed by beatis or small two bits.   Deep Water seemed to produce the most fish but the afternoon will show some fish on the shallower water and taking dry flies too. As dries we used some March Brown emergers and size 16 BWO patterns.

The Canyon is a beautiful place to fish and the fish are colorful these days.  Keep a close eye on the flow.  It may continue to climb.

Tight lines.” Antonio R.
