We fished the area around castle rock in the upper canyon. We used dry dropper rigs for the duration of the trip. The dries we used were hippie stompers, chubby. Our droppers were flashy red midges and small pheasant tails. We saw a lot of action, with fish taking both dries and droppers. We fished the usual lies, behind rocks and in seams with medium-paced currents. The tailouts in longer runs were holding a lot of fish. The upper river flow is coming down rapidly. Go fish it while it’s good!
