Bear Creek River Report

Bear Creek River Report

12-1-2025

Flows are low, as a lot of water is now ice. Look for areas of direct sunlight, as these will have more skim, than hard ice, however, for now expect slow conditions. With the flow, approach low, and fish from behind the fish if at possible. Also downsize tippet and fly selection, aside from streamers. You will likely encounter ice over the weekend, as it is looking to be chilly, so make sure you are fishing the areas that get the most sun, as these will have the most active fish, and less ice, and as per usual, a super early start will not be necesary.
Primary hatches are Midges (currently the largest hatch), and BWO's (the smaller the better).
Please note that we will now be updating the River Reports weekly, typically on Wednesdays until warm weather returns.

...

For dries, use a AR's BWO Adult, Film Critic, Chubby Chernobyl, High Viz BWO, Mole Fly, Parachute Adams, AR's BWO Emerger, Griffith's Gnat, and a Hippy Stomper.
