Hi Guys,

My name is Marcus Hook, and my dad Mark hooked me up with a lesson a few weeks back. Rob Chapin was great. He really helped me get comfortable with my casting and worked with me to help me correct a few bad habits I knew I had in my cast. He made catching fish easy, which was great. I had a really great time catching brookies, browns, and rainbows in Boulder creek. I will highly recommend the shop and Rob to anyone and everyone I hear heading that way. My father and I spent the next couple of days after my lesson hiking to, camping at, and fishing in Lawn Lake. I talked to someone at the shop who was familiar with fishing there. The greenback cutthroat trout were absolutely gorgeous and the scenery was breathtaking. If you can find fishermen willing to hike the 3 hrs and 6.3 miles in, do it. I can’t stress enough how incredible the experience was. My dad is an avid fly fishermen and he said they were some of the prettiest trout he has ever seen. If you haven’t been, go.
I said I would email the shop and Rob and let everyone know how it went. We absolutely conquered the outlet portion of the lake. Parachute Adams, elk hair caddis and pretty much all other dry flies we used in the afternoon worked like magic (~ size 10). I tried a hopper dropper kind of set up the next morning and the fish were only taking nymphs (size 18). Had the most luck with copper john and tungsten teaser. Don’t know if the switch in behavior was from us hitting the area pretty hard the day before or just weather/time of day related. All and all we both caught over a dozen fish apiece with each of us only fishing for about 4 hours or so because of hiking we wanted to do in the area of the lake. Didn’t have much luck in the rest of the lake but we didn’t try very hard since the outlet was so good.
Included a few pictures of the fish and shot of the lake. Thanks again for everything. Enjoy.
