Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch
Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, one of our favorite Spring fishing options, has begun producing some great fish again this year. Sylvan Dale has several lake options, the most sought after being “Mother Lake”, home to some very large trout. The ranch also has access to a stretch of the lower Big Thompson by Drake. Although largely impacted by the flood in 2013, the river is bouncing back big time. Not only did this past week of trips produce some great fish caught in the river, the bug life is back as well. Sylvan Dale is a private piece of water and you must hire a guide to fish here. It should continue to get better and better in the coming weeks. Check out our recent guide reports, take a look at some of the sweet pictures, and then call the shop so we can get you out fishing with us!
“We mainly fished the river and the results were very consistent. Good size rainbows and browns, all of them taken on a Czech nymph rig, with Jigged Prince and HDA Variant being the most productive, just adapting the weight depending on the depth and speeds of the water. The level here is a bit high and off color right now, but with some stone flies hatching in the morning that made those fish turn on!” ~Antonio Rodrigues
“Mother lake was glassy in the morning. We fed a few on droppers below a periscope. Some tung torpedo eats and some on griffiths gnats. We landed one real nice one on a belly ache minnow as well. The river in the afternoon was consistent eats for us on various stones and rubber legs. Can’t wait to get back out here soon!” ~Bryce Daviess
