Wading Boots

A good pair of wading boots makes or breaks a day on the river. They lock your foot in place through current, gravel, and slick rock, and they're the difference between fishing all day and calling it early with sore ankles. We carry wading boots from Simms, Orvis, and Patagonia in both rubber and felt soles, so you can match the boot to the water you're fishing. Rubber soles grip well on varied terrain and travel easier (some states ban felt to stop the spread of invasive species). Felt soles still hold an edge on slick, algae-covered rock in freestone rivers. Fit matters as much as sole type: wading boots run big to fit over neoprene socks or stocking-foot waders, so most anglers size up half to a full size from their street shoe.
