Located on the North Fork of the South Platte River just outside of the town of Bailey, Rawhide Ranch truly is a slice of paradise. Anglers at Rawhide Ranch will be treated to one of the most incredible fly fishing settings they could imagine. The property measures 3 miles long, and contains 3 distinct beats for anglers to choose from. Each beat contains numerous runs, riffles, and pools loaded with browns, rainbows, and cutthroat that regularly reach 8 pounds in size. Couple the size of the fish with the convenience of being an hour and a half from Denver, and it is easy to see why Rawhide Ranch is such a coveted fly fishing local.
We would absolutely love to work with you to build your dream fly fishing adventure at Rawhide Ranch. Given the popularity of this stretch of water and the limited availability that we have to guide on it each season, we encourage you to contact us as early as possible to ensure that your preferred date is available. Feel free to call the shop, and any one of our qualified staff will be happy to work with you to book your perfect trip!
THE BEST BENEFITS
Ranch Information
The Fishing
Species
Anglers at Rawhide Ranch can expect to catch rainbows, browns, and cutthroat trout in the 3-4 pound range, with fish regularly reaching upwards of 8 pounds. Additionally, anglers may occasionally catch the elusive tiger trout, which is a hybrid between a brook trout and a brown trout.
The Water
Although much of the river resembles the classic "riffle, run, pool" structure commonly seen on many western trout rivers, manmade habitat improvements have led to the creation of numerous large pools throughout the ranch. These large pools provide perfect habitat for the large trout that reside in the river, offering them protection and constant oxygen flow. Although these fish my sometimes rise to a well-presented dry fly, the majority of the fishing here will involve nymphing - either under an indicator or using the European nymphing technique.
Rod Fees

The Property
Scenery and Wildlife
In addition to excellent fishing, the unparalleled scenery and wildlife make this property a truly remarkable opportunity. Anglers at Rawhide Ranch will be surrounded by dramatic rock outcroppings and towering stands of pines, making them feel as though they are in a true wilderness setting. The opportunity to see deer, elk, bear, and numerous species of hawks and eagles only adds to the experience.
Stream Restoration
This property has undergone a multi-million-dollar environmental restoration that was designed and built by Clint Packo and his team at Freestone Aquatics and has become one of the premier private water fishing opportunities in the west. Access is limited and quite restricted to this property, which further helps to limit the risks of environmental degradation and overfishing.
