THE BEST BENEFITS

LODGE INFORMATION

The Fishing

New Zealand Fly Fishing
The fishing in New Zealand is unlike anywhere else on the planet! Sight casting large dry flies tied on 3x tippet with 6 wt rods to a 10 lb trout in gin clear water is one of the most exciting things you can do in freshwater fishing! Fishing long leaders (14-18 feet) is key to not spook the fish and dark clothing and fly lines are also essential to your success fishing New Zealand rivers. The trout in New Zealand average about 3 lbs with fish in the 5-8 lb range extremely common. The fish aren’t too selective when it comes to fly selection, you just have to have a good presentation without spooking them!

Great Guides
The guides skills are unquestionable, but their uncanny ability to convey that knowledge to the client and give that person the edge and confidence to catch the elusive, wily New Zealand brown trout, is where they shine! River Haven’s friendly guides are hand selected to give you the very best New Zealand has to offer. They have the skill, knowledge and most importantly, the desire to make your day on the river unforgettable!

Accommodations

The Cabins
The cabins have the highest quality beds, complimented with Egyptian cotton sheets, goose down comforters and pure cotton quilts. Air conditioning (a must in our New Zealand changing weather) and heating with double glazed windows, keep your cabin cozy. A 32” flat screen TV will entertain you while relaxing, not to mention keep you in tune with your sports! To enhance your controlled environment, we’ve added HRV, “Heat Recovery Ventilation” system that replaces the air in the room with fresh clean filtered air four times every hour!

Every bath has heated towel bars to warm the softest cotton towels and demisters in the over-sized bath mirrors, so your lovely lady can do herself up, while you’re in the shower! 360 Degree verandas around your cabin provide cover, while the antler hooks offer a place for your waders and wet jackets, while a boot rack dries your boots.

Your Place In Nature
Take in the native plants surrounding your cabin while enjoying the birds that they attract. Why wake to an alarm clock, when you can waken to the sound of native birds!
