Shawnee Meadows Ranch is the second of two private properties that we have access to on the North Fork of the South Platte River. What separates Shawnee Meadows from its nearby neighbor, Rawhide, is the ease of access that this stretch of river provides for newer anglers. Located in a beautiful meadow setting, the river here is easy to access for anglers of any age and experience level. Each of the two sections of the property have their own parking, restroom facilities, and outdoor eating areas, making a day of fishing here incredibly comfortable. Couple the exceptional facilities with the fact that browns, rainbows, and cutthroat up to 8 pounds inhabit the waters on the property, and you have the perfect recipe for an amazing fly fishing experience.
Access to this property is quite limited, and its bookings tend to fill up quite early in the year. The Fishing
Species
Anglers fishing Shawnee Meadows are likely to encounter browns, rainbows, and the occasional cutthroat trout. All three of these species can grow to impressive sizes on this property, and 8 pound fish are not uncommon.
The Water
The structure of the river at Shawnee Meadows resembles that found downstream at Rawhide Ranch. Environmental restoration efforts have led to the creation of numerous large pools and runs, all of which harbor large trout. Dry fly fishing can be found here on the right day, but nymphing remains the most productive method of targeting fish at Shawnee Meadows.
Rod Fees
- Through November 14th: $265 per person, minimum of two rods.
- November 15th, 2024 - April 15, 2025: $200 per person, minimum of two rods
The Property
Layout
Shawnee Meadows consists of 1 mile of private water on the North Fork of the South Platte River. The property is split into two distinct sections, or beats. Each section has restroom facilities, outdoor dining facilities and parking areas.
Stream Restoration
Just as with Rawhide Ranch, Clint Packo and Freestone Aquatics were contracted to perform a massive environmental restoration effort to rebuild the river channel and restore the riparian corridor to what it once was in the early 1900’s.
