St. Vrain Creek River Report
St. Vrain Creek River Report
10-6-2025
Flows are back up, thanks to the rain. This has really gotten the fish eating, though the south fork is more stained than the north fork. Fish will eat dries, nymphs, and streamers, so pick your favorite technique. Just don't forget to do a good swing at the end of your drift. This tactic has been great as of recent. Hatches continue to be midges, PMD's, BWO's, and Caddis. Small Caddis have been the most prevelant hatch.
...
For Dries, use a Elk Hair Caddis, Red Butt Caddis, AR's PMD, Hi Viz Parachute BWO, Superman Caddis, High Vis BWO, Film Critic, and a Hippy Stomper.
...
For nymphs, use a Hun Caddis Pupa, Zebra Midge, Split Case PMD, BH Peacock Nymph, Juju Baetis, Bubble Back Emerger in PMD, Godspeed Caddis, AR's Perdigon, Kelsar, Thin Mint, Jigged Leech, Tung Stud, and Twisted Caddis.

Fly Fishing the St. Vrain
The creek is full of opportunistic fish that are eager to take a dry fly, so take advantage of the great caddis, blue wing olive and terrestrial fishing. The midges that call the St. Vrain home are active all year and are always a safe bet come the colder months of the year. This is a great chance to get out and test some of those midge patterns that you have been drooling over all winter. The Fishing in the town of Lyons can be fantastic.
