Water Man Adventures

Journey to Slovenia for an Adventure like no Other

Slovenia is a truly unique place for fly fishing. It has become a popular destination for good reason. It is a stunning destination with tremendous diversity in terrain and rivers. The western part of this small country has an abundance of beautiful, fishable waters. In the northern/alpine region, the streams and rivers are cold all year long, making them highly oxygenated and an ideal habitat for cold-water fish like trout even in the hottest time of the year.

Fly fishing in Slovenia is normally a bit easier because of the low-nutrient (oligotrophic) nature of the streams - fish just have to eat all the time in order to get ready for the cold winter.

The Fishing

Trout
Anglers can expect to fish for various species of trout on our beautiful rivers, from the rare Marble Trout to Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. Slovenia is one of the few places in the world that the Marble Trout calls home. Marble Trout are beautiful fish that can only be found in a few drainages and rivers of the Adriatic, including the Soca River and Idrijca River in Slovenia!

Grayling
Grayling are fun catch. The species that inhabit the Soca River are unique to Adriatic waters. They average 12–18 inches. Though small in stature, a tall dorsal fin gives them big character. The Soca River variety are typically greyish-yellow with a dark tail.

Huchen (Danube Salmon)
The mighty Huchen, also known as the Danube Salmon, is a rare fish that can only be found in the Danube River and its tributaries. Including the . This monster-sized fish can grow to well over 4 feet.

Accommodations

Krka River Lodge
The Krka River Lodge is nestled on the banks of the Krka River, surrounded by charming hills. It lies near the source of the Krka River, which puts us right on one of the best chalk streams in the world! Hungry large browns and rainbows are biting right outside your back door! Each room includes a single or double bed, river or garden view, private full bathroom, work desk, free WIFI, coffee/tea maker warm breakfast.

Electricity in Europe
Slovenia’s electrical standard is 230 volts / 50 Hz. Electrical outlets have an opening for 2 tubular pins, not flat prongs, so be sure you have an adapter that’s compatible before travel. Most modern electronic devices (including your laptop and phone charger) are capable of 220v or 110v, but you will still need the adapter plug. Be sure to verify this prior to using the 220v outlet!!! Please see this link for more information:
