Fishing the East Cape Flats
Most of the fishing here is done on foot. You'll walk vast sand flats with your guide, hunting fish in water that few anglers have ever seen. Skiffs run you to a new flat each day and are there for fishing from the boat when wading conditions aren't right, or if a pair of anglers simply prefers it.

Target Species
Giant Trevally
Packs of GTs cruise these flats. Keep your 12 weight rigged and ready, because they show up fast.
Blue Bastard
One of the most sought-after flats fish in Australia, and a headline species here. Fish them on a 10 weight.
Permit
A true prize on any flat. Expect them alongside blue bastards on the 10 weight.
Chinaman
Another primary target on the East Cape flats.
Reef Species
A mix of reef fish round out each day on the 10 weight.

Dangerous Animal Warning
Australia is home to some of the world's most dangerous animals, and on this trip you'll share the water with a few of them: saltwater crocodiles, box and Irukandji jellyfish, sharks, cone shells and blue-ringed octopus. Encounters are rare, but staying alert is essential. The crew and guides never compromise on safety, so follow their instructions at all times. Protective wading tights and hard-sole wading boots are required.
