Golden Dorado Combo Hosted Trip

Golden Dorado Combo Hosted Trip

Forged by the big waters of the Upper Paraná and the clear, intimate channels of the Iberá wetlands, northern Argentina is the heart of golden dorado country. Explosive eats, aerial runs, and toothy headshakes define this apex predator; backed by a backdrop of jungle banks, floating grass islands, and wide, blue-green river. While many anglers know dorado for their brute force, Corrientes also delivers refined sight-fishing, technical presentations, and shots at pacú and pira-pitá under overhanging trees. It's a rare blend of power and precision; and a bucket-list target for any serious warm-water fly angler. This hosted combo pairs two distinct lodges in one seamless week: wetland sight lines early in the week and Paraná heavy hitters to close it out. The package includes seven nights and six full fishing days, seasoned guides, gourmet regional cuisine, and dialed logistics through Buenos Aires and Corrientes.

The combo pairs two distinct fisheries and fishing styles. Itatí (Upper Paraná) offers jungle-lined banks, hard-pushing current, and trophy-class dorado hunting with power fishing techniques. La Alondra'i (Iberá wetlands) provides clear-water sight-fishing with poling skiffs and technical presentations. Jetu'u (Mid-Paraná and Ysoró wetland) blends both styles with numbers and quality. The combination gives you the full Argentina dorado experience in one week.
Golden dorado season runs October through April (Southern Hemisphere summer). Peak fishing is typically November through March when water temperatures are warmest and dorado are most active. Your hosted trip dates will be scheduled during prime season.
Golden dorado in northern Argentina commonly range from 5-15 pounds, with fish over 20 pounds present in the system. Trophy-class fish over 25-30 pounds are possible, especially in the Upper Paraná system. The Iberá wetlands often produce high numbers of fish in the 8-12 pound range with exceptional sight-fishing opportunities.
Argentina's dorado lodges are experienced in adapting to conditions. If one fishery is blown out or off-color, guides will move to protected waters or alternative locations. The two-lodge combo format provides flexibility; you have access to multiple river systems and wetlands. October-April is generally stable weather, though occasional rain is normal in subtropical environments. Your guides fish these waters year-round and know how to find productive water in varying conditions.
Industry standard for Argentina is $50-75 per angler per day for your guide, plus $10-20 per day for lodge staff. For a six-day trip, budget approximately $400-500 total per angler for gratuities. Tips can be paid in U.S. dollars.
