About Lost Key Lodge

About Lost Key Lodge

Lost Key Lodge sits on the edge of the Bahamas in the remote Jumentos Cays: a croissant-shaped chain of islets, cays, and rocks stretching over 110 miles. Located 60 miles north of Cuba, this undamaged Caribbean ecosystem remains lost in time with no other sport fishing operations and zero angling pressure. The bonefish here are by all accounts the least-pressured in the Bahamas. Add permit, prehistoric barracuda, and blue-water opportunities for marlin, tuna, and wahoo, and you have a near-perfect fishery. With only 4 anglers maximum, you'll have untold miles of pristine white-sand flats, hidden mangrove creeks, and trackless silver beaches completely to yourselves.

About the Fishing

Fishing at Lost Key Lodge

The Jumentos Cays are a place lost in time. With no other sport fishing operations, these flats see zero angling pressure; making them home to the least-pressured bonefish in the Bahamas. The croissant-shaped chain includes Great and Little Ragged Islands, Raccoon Cay, Hog Cay, Knife Cay, Nurse Cay, Flamingo Cay, and Double-Breasted Cay. Nature's balance remains undisturbed here.

Flats Fishing
Miles of easily-waded white sand flats stretch before you: trackless, pristine, and yours alone. Hidden mangrove creeks wind through the cays. Inland lakes fill with eager schools of bonefish on every tide change. All fishing is done by wading or poling from flats skiffs.

Target Species

Bonefish (Albula vulpes)
The least-pressured bonefish in the Bahamas.

  • Pressure: Zero other sport fishing operations in the Jumentos
  • Behavior: Aggressive, willing eaters due to lack of angling pressure
  • Habitat: White sand flats, mangrove creeks, inland tidal lakes

Permit (Trachinotus falcatus)
Plentiful and catchable in this forgotten fishery.

  • Behavior: More aggressive than heavily-fished locations
  • Habitat: White sand flats, channels

Barracuda
Monstrous, prehistoric, and super aggressive.

  • Between Tides: Exciting target when flats fishing slows
  • Behavior: Explosive strikes, spectacular fights

Triggerfish
Tricky but rewarding targets.

  • Between Tides: Technical challenge for experienced anglers

Blue-Water Species

When conditions align, Lost Key offers blue-water fishing for:

  • Blue Marlin & White Marlin – The ocean's top gamefish
  • Tuna – Powerful, long fights
  • Wahoo – Blistering speed
  • Mahi-Mahi (Dolphin) – Acrobatic and great table fare

Sailfish – Spectacular on the fly
